Dates, Venue and Working ModalitiesThe World e-Parliament Conference 2010 is co-organized by the United Nations, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Parliament of South Africa, the Pan-African Parliament and the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament. It will be held on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 October 2010. The Conference, jointly hosted by the Parliament of South Africa and the Pan-African Parliament, will take place at the seat of the Pan African Parliament in Midrand, Johannesburg. The World e-Parliament Conference 2010 will start at 9 a.m. on 21 October with the Opening Ceremony, followed by sessions in plenary and technical sessions running in parallel to the plenary. On Wednesday 20 October, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Parliament of South Africa will host the official Welcoming Reception “Ke Nako – It’s Africa Time!” for all participants at the ICC in Sandton. Details concerning the reception will be provided at the time of registration. On Saturday 23 October, a cultural excursion will be offered by the Parliament of South Africa to all participants wishing to take part in it. A detailed agenda of the World e-Parliament Conference 2010 will be published on the Conference website. All panels and sessions will be interactive with ample time for debate after the initial interventions of the invited speakers (parliamentary leaders and officials, international experts and officials from international organizations). However, every effort ought to be made by participants to avoid reading formal statements. Instead, they are invited to ask questions and participate in the debate by making brief statements and suggestions. No formal list of speakers will be drawn up in advance, with the order of interventions and questions to be decided by the session Chair or Moderator. |
