As of 28 October 2013, a pilot operation of the epSOS project enables ePrescriptions from other European countries to be picked up at epSOS-approved pharmacies in Sweden, and for Swedish ePrescriptions to be collected at epSOS-approved pharmacies in other countries.

Since 19 June 2013 Swiss citizens have been able to use the European patients Smart Open Services (epSOS) project Patient Summary service for personalised health treatment and medication when going to another epSOS piloting country.

On 22 February 2013, the EU eHealth project epSOS received the 2013 HealthTech Innovation Award for pioneering the adoption of auto ID technologies in healthcare.
