World e-Parliament Conference 2007 and related meetings

The World e-Parliament Conference 2007 and related meetings took place in Geneva from 9 to 12 October 2007.
The Conference, opened on 11 October by the Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations, the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the President of the Association of Secretaries General of Parliament, provided for the first time a forum for MPs and officials, academics and representatives of international organizations and the civil society, to exchange views and experiences, analyze successful approaches, and identify best practices on the use of new technologies to modernize parliamentary processes and improve dialogue between parliaments, legislators and citizens.

World e-Parliament Conference 2007 - Challenges and benefits of ICT in parliamentary processes

The World e-Parliament Conference provided an opportunity to debate the challenges and benefits provided by ICT and analyzed successful approaches, identified good practices and lessons learned.
The Conference was aimed at parliamentarians, Secretaries General and parliamentary staff and officials who work with ICT, such as legislative staff, IT administrators, knowledge managers and librarians.

Meeting of the Global Network of IT Experts in Parliament

Following the Conference, the first face-to-face meeting of members of the Global Network of IT Experts in Parliament (GNIT) took place on Friday, 12 October 2007. The Global Network was set up by the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament in May 2007 as an online platform where IT experts can exchange information on the use of new technologies in parliament.

International Workshop on "eParliament: managing innovation"

The International Workshop, organized by the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament, aimed to explore the issues and challenges that parliaments have to face in keeping up with the impact of new technologies and highlight the skills, technologies and approaches required to harness ICT opportunities. The Workshop was aimed at parliamentary staff and officials who work in the ICT-related domain, such as IT administrators, legislative staff, knowledge managers and librarians.

Taller Regional - Hacia una Red de Funcionarios de Tecnología de la Información en los Parlamentos de las Américas - RED-FTiP Américas

A través de recursos ofrecidos por el Gobierno Italiano, el Banco Inter-Americano de Desarrollo (BID) ha lanzado el proyecto “Red de Funcionarios de Tecnología de la Información en los Parlamentos de las Américas” (RED-FTiP Américas)”, cuyo objetivo principal es fortalecer, trabajando conjuntamente con el Centro Global para la Tecnología de las Información y Comunicación en los Parlamentos, el desarrollo del clúster de América Latina de la “Red Global de Expertos de Información Tecnológica en los Parlamentos”, con el fin de asegurar un intercambio de experiencias concretas entre expertos de tecnologías en dichos parlamentos.
