On 8 January 2014, the Council of Ministers, the collective executive decision-making body of the Polish Government, adopted the National Integrated Informatisation Programme (PZIP). This is a strategic document that describes how high quality electronic public services can be delivered to the public.

On 19 February 2013, the prototype of GovData - the national data portal - went online, providing citizens and businesses with easier access to and reuse of administrative data.

The beta version of 'Dados.gov', a Portuguese open government platform which makes a wide range of data available to the general public, was launched on 24 November 2011.

The French open government data website data.gouv.fr (beta version) was introduced on 5 December 2011. France thus joined the closed group of countries which have a dedicated portal, such as the United Kingdom and the USA.

The federal government departments and institutions have recently made open data available on 'Data.gov.be', the government's open data portal.

On 15 September 2011, Minister Piet Hein Donner of the Ministry of Interior and Kingdom Relations (Ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties - BZK, in Dutch) officially launched the open data portal of the Dutch Government, data.overheid.nl .

On 21 June 2011, the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform launched a new online Databank of expenditure information, which provides full, open access to a vast range of information about how public money is spent in Ireland.
